The Sheldon Mansion Inn combines historic

The Sheldon Mansion, an Historic Inn, has been restored to its original splendor of an era over 100 years ago when it was built in 1906 by slate baron Fredrick Sheldon on a beautiful estate setting. Even then, people were pleasantly surprised by the inviting feel of such an impressive mansion. This exceptional Bed & Breakfast opened in August 2004, one month after owners Stephen and Marianne Lynch exchanged wedding vows on the Veranda. Since then it has provided a beautiful home away from home for hundreds of satisfied guests who have awakened to a magnificent breakfast.
The Sheldon Mansion has five beautifully appointed guest rooms. Every convenience is provided including Wireless Internet Access. Each room has a private full bath, which blends historic charm with modern comforts. All of the rooms are subtly themed after area locations with antiques, artwork, books and memorabilia. The most impressive accommodation is the Granville Suite with a private sitting room. The Eagle Bridge provides a Grandma Moses theme. The Champlain celebrates the lakes region. The Saratoga has a collection of racing and casino heritage. The Arlington presents a Norman Rockwell theme.
Breakfast is a special event and is served in the second floor solarium overlooking the village with lovely picturesque views of the Green Mountains. Guests can also relax in Mrs. Sheldon's comfortable Sitting Room, mingle in the graceful Formal Parlor, or unwind on the sweeping Veranda. Mr. Sheldon's English Study serves as either a classic gentlemen’s retreat or as a highly functional office for business travelers complete with Wireless Internet Access and a copier. The Formal Dining Room can be the setting for an elegant catered dinner or a special business meeting, The Inn and its grounds are available for weddings and special events or smaller indoor functions such as parties and business conferences.
Stephen Lynch, along with his dog Amanda, bought the mansion in April of 2002 with the hope of restoring the unique red slate building as an inn. He met Marianne a month later and now the elegant mansion is their beautiful home and a first-class B&B.
Stephen and Marianne enjoy meeting the variety of guests at their inn and sharing their lives’ experiences. Many have traveled from around the country and even around the world and have marveled at this area’s history and natural beauty. The inn often serves as extra bedrooms for family visitors for holidays, reunions, graduations and weddings.
